To review math concepts for the Terra Nova, I gave each student a special number on a post it that they wore around all afternoon. During math, the kids had to use their special number to solve math problems and create story problems! We used our number in expanded form, odd and even, adding 100, adding 1000, number sentences, place value and writing story problems (addition or subtraction) with the sum or difference being their special number! They had a great time with this! :)

Preparing for the Terra Nova!
The kids have been working very hard the past two weeks, preparing for the Terra Nova. In school, we've been talking about how to take a test, coloring in bubbles for the correct answer and strategies if you aren't too sure of the answer. The student's have been very focused and working hard!
Making Constellations
During our space unit, the kids learned all about constellations. Then they put what they learned into their own unique and designed constellation. They used black paper, a straight edge, a pencil and a white crayon to first put their dots to form their "star" constellations. Then they used their straight edge to draw line segments between each point. After that, they used their pencil to poke the holes to show their stars!
Later, we presented them using the overhead. The kids tried to guess what each student's constellation was. They had a lot of fun with this! :)
